In celebration of the International Day of Disability on 3 December, Netball WA visited the Durham Road Special Education School’s ‘Summer Fun Day’ and the City of Fremantle’s ‘Come and Try’ Sports Day.
The children enjoyed various activities from the Netball Australia NetSetGO! program, with each of the 130 children receiving their own netball, backpack and activity book.
The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all, with coaches Geraldine Tassef and Ashley Neal having a fantastic time with the kids, and displaying how netball is an inclusive sport that is available to all abilities.
Netball WA will be holding a ‘Netball for All’ come and try day at Fremantle Netball Association, Gibson Park Reserve on Saturday 13 March 2010 from 10am – 12pm.
The day is targeted at all age groups, with opportunities for children from five years old through to adults. The event is in collaboration with Fremantle NA’s People with Disabilities (PWD) club registration day. The club currently has four adult teams and the day is an opportunity for adults to come and try activities and game play, and to register interest in playing with the club. The Netball Australia junior netball program NetSetGO! will also be on show with children of all abilities able to participate in fun, skill building games, with the opportunity to register interest in the 10 week mainstream or modified program.
